Working Holidays

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

We’ve been cranking through the website updates over the holiday break. We’re taking the 2nd off to focus on more code, but we’ll get shipping again on Thursday. Apologies if you have an unanswered e-mail; we’ll get back on it now that the holidays are past.

Thanks!
Chris

New site design!

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

We’ve been working all hours getting the new management system to work. We’re starting to use proper tools for running the site, which will make updates and adding new products easier. Unfortunately, there is a nearly infinite amount of work going on in the background to build up the infrastructure of what you see in the presentation. So it looks like "nothing at all" is going on, when there is actually a flurry of code writing. :)

Visit back for updates … or subscribe to our RSS feed!

WordPress editor

Friday, December 14th, 2007

Part of the purpose of installing WP and using it was to make site updates easy for our staff. WP comes with TinyMCe installed as standard; however it kinda sucks as if you try to do ANYTHING outside of its parameters, it ruins your html code. So if you want to put in a <DIV ID="blah">, it would convert it to <P ID="blah">, which may or may not behave properly.

I looked around and found this plug-in: http://plugins.baptiste.us/plugins/xinha4wp/

SSL Certificate Warning Fixed

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

Apologies for the inconvenience: we allowed our “SSL Security Certificate” to lapse. It expired this week and it is now paid up again.

The certificate issued by the independent authority who validates our domain had just expired. While the encryption is the same, paying independent authorities for the certificate helps authenticate we are who we say we are. In other words, there never was a problem with security of information and everything is up to date and should be fine now without any warnings in your web browser.

Being behind

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

Hi everyone - Candice has a few days off and we miss her. If response to your e-mail or message takes a little longer, sorry about that! We're hard at work getting orders processed and staying on top of things.

Thanks,
Chris :)

Technology update

Monday, July 16th, 2007

We are working on the transition from Microsoft Windows operating systems (mostly XP) to all Linux OSs (mostly ubuntu). To better serve you, we are making this move away from closed-source, proprietary programs and making the move to open source solutions which enable us greater flexibility.

Some great info:
Free Office-Suite of programs for windows, linux, etc: OpenOffice.org
Other FREE open source programs for windows: site1 - site2 - site3 - site4 - site5
Open source graphics programs for linux. And more. (likely google can tell you about many!)
Ubuntu and Kubuntu are two of many linux operating system distributions.
